The Society Of Fuzhou City Reflected In The Fujian Provincial Newspaper Of1886～1890

This article analyses Fujian provincial newspaper between1886and1890, especially focuses on the news which report Fuzhou city. The article attempts to draw the outline of Fuzhou image in the last ten years of the19th century by the aid of research methods of history philology, sociology and journalism. The image includes politics, economy, society,culture and person. Through the whole research of Fuzhou history image, the article points out that churchmen’s intention is to spread Christianity. At the same time, the newspaper originate from churchmen have simple meaning in chinese culture and history. For example, they transmit occident civilization, open People’s wisdom, needle social ills translation, promote harmony between East and West.
