Driver information system is the main interaction window between the driver andthe vehicle. With the rapid changes of modern electronics technology, the consumersexpect to get more benefit by having the advanced electronics technology used in thevehicle. We researched the challenges deriving from consumer electronics to driverinformation systems, and it makes the development of the driver information systemmore complicate and changeable, such as the software design. Combining theserequirements and the company’s product development strategy, we presented a solutiondeveloping a software development platform tool for driver information system HMIdevelopment.The main contributions of this thesis as following:First, we investigated and analyzed trend of the driver information system, andpredicted the direction of the trend in the coming years.Second, we investigated and analyzed the requirements coming from consumer andthe company’s development strategy, created the complete requirements of the HMIdevelopment platform.Third, by comparing the advantage and disadvantage of two solutions for the HMIsystem, we chosed the FPGA as our solution.Fourth, we provided a detailed hardware solution by using FPGA; we presented thesoftware architecture of HMI system with decription of the layers and components; wecreated the software design criterion to guarentee good reusability of the software; wedeveloped all of the components and the architecture for the platform; we created thesolution for the system running management, such as task management.Finally, after defining the software test and validation strategy, we did the unitaryvalidation and integration validation, got the test result&test report.Then, we used aapplication example, demonstrated the design flow with the platform, by using the thirdpart modeling tool, EB Guide,we successfully get the HMI showing on the TFT display.
