Instrument cluster designing method has experienced through analog and standalone style todigital and networked. Although, hardware technology for TFT cluster is already mature, butalmost all of the current solutions are based on CPU+GPU platform, this is not cost effective.Nowadays, software designing is apt to AUTOSAR standard platform, although someinternational companies can provide commercial source code for AUTOSAR, but they are allcomplex and expensive, of course, not suitable for Chinese automotive market at all.Moreover, in China, all of the studies of AUTOSAR and its network management are still inacademic research stage, no mature applications are available for instrument cluster now.This subject studied the overall global automotive electronics industry, particularly on theinstrument cluster development and its technical trend, First of all, we studied the state of artof field bus technology on car, network management standard and display control method aswell. Secondly, based on the study result, we built up software and hardware platform,designed software and hardware architecture. Meanwhile we put the most emphasis on TFTinterface design and the feasibility study of applying new micro controller Dx4. Finally, basedon the platform and architecture we designed and put in place the functional applicationmodules, HMI, as well as AUTOSAR network management.In general, this subject is aim to provide one general kind of modern cluster design solutionrather than setup a cutting edge technology instrument cluster. Thus, for this solution, Renesasnew micro controller family Dx4is put in place and AUTOSAR network managementprotocol stack is integrated. After system integration testing, all the evidence shows that wesuccessfully build this platform which is also very convenient for porting and reusing.
