With the rapid development of network technology, industry and audio real timetransmission technology is updated in the radio and television, the traditional audiotransmitting device using simulation method, wiring complex, high cost of equipment, and only in small range, It was particularly important to achieve audio transmissiondigital transmission, especially IP technology as the transmission medium universalapplication, makes the study of IP technology in the professional field of radio anddigital audio real time transmission imperative, the design of a low cost, can adapt to thenetwork environment, the high availability of equipment has broad market prospects. The transmission latency of the digital audio clock is one of the technicaldisadvantages of digital audio transmission system based on IP technology. IP networkprotocol was invented for general purpose of data networking not for real time digitalmedia transmission but the popular use of IP makes it a cost effective and flexiblesolution for real time media transmission. The key issue of this paper is about how touse IP technology to keep the digital audio clock synchronized accurately on thenetwork and how to keep the latency of audio transmission low enough to meet therequirements of professional applications. A software was developed to make the clockdifference between two computers ultra small using the IEEE1588protocol, muchsmaller than the normal IP technologies. The results of this software proved IEEE1588is an ideal solution for accurate digital audio clock synchronization on the network. Adedicated hardware solution will have an even better performance than the software, thenetwork jitter and transmission latency are also studied and some solutions are providedin this paper. One of the most important conclusions of the paper is that IEEE1588based clock synchronization and dedicated solution of buffering can make IP network agood choice for professional digital audio transmission applications. This paper can bean implementation reference for the future IP networked digital audio transmissionsystem with low latency, accurate clock synchronization, high quality and big traffic.
