Using open industrial standards and integrated several functions in various fields such as motion control and logic control, PAC (Programmable Automation Controller) has been in a rapid development in the field of industrial automation for its advantages above with universal open platform and high performance. Because of the large network coverage, high bandwidth and high reliability features, the world’s main PAC system vendors have launched the research on application of industrial Ethernet protocol in PAC products. As the state that domestic investigations on applying real-time Ethernet protocol which has independent intellectual property rights in PAC system are only a few, research on key technology of PAC system based on EtherMAC platform combined with CoDeSys which is a kind of open, component-based and configurable automation software platform. Finally, a control system of combined machine tools used in manufacturing of parking equipment sectional bars has been designed with the novel PAC system based on real-time Ethernet.Based on EtherMAC real-time industrial Ethernet motion control platform, the functional requirements of PAC system have been analyzed and the hardware solutions was designed with IPC, Ethernet bus, motion control card and IO modules. And the software architecture was designed by making of programming system and runtime system.For the reason that both CoDeSys which is the open automation and control software platform and the real-time EtherMAC Platform have their own communication interfaces, Original Equipment Manufacture Component has been designed for transferring data between them. With the help of10driver, users can operate the10modules of EtherMAC platform in PAC system with programming language in accordance with IEC61131-3international standard.The motion control function blocks have been built according to the motion control definition from PLCopen organization. Users can use these function blocks in PAC programming system to realize the motion control tasks.In order to verify the feasibility of the PAC system communication and motion control function blocks, the control system of a combined machine tool used in manufacturing parking equipment sectional bars has been redeveloped with the novel EtherMAC-based PAC system. The base auto-manufacturing and manual functions were realized that proved the advantages of the novel PAC system in degree of standardization and portability, and shortening the develop cycle.
