Wireless Sensor Networks consist of a large number of micro-sensor nodes deployed in the interested region. It collaboratively perceives, collect and process the data within the network coverage area, and send it to observers. Data aggregation is the key technology of wireless sensor networks to achieve energy saving. This technology processes the data or information, and compresses them to get smaller and more logical data to meet the direct effects of data aggregation of reducing the amount of data transmission, which can effectively save energy and improve the effectiveness of energy.Nowadays, hierarchical routing protocol with clustering is the mainstream in the routing protocol research. Data aggregation is suitable for hierarchical routing protocol. In this paper, our research will base on hierarchical routing protocol. This paper will design clustering and routing methods in a new way, which uses data aggregation technology as a core and make it an important reference factors in clustering process. We considered the problem both in a centralized way and a decentralized way.Applying cluster analysis, we research routing algorithm based on the geographical location information and data characteristics, and propose clustering method CMGD and routing algorithm HRGD, both of which are in centralized way. CMGD reflects the idea of combining cluster analysis and data aggregation. HRGD applies the idea of hierarchical methods, and building high-data-aggregation-efficiency routing of the sensor networks using the greedy strategy.In the decentralized and distributed way, this paper designs a new data-aggregation-centric wireless sensor network routing architecture--DAORA. The goal of building the routing architecture is to maximize the efficiency of data aggregation. Thus, redundant data can be removed, and high data compression efficiency can be achieved. DAORA uses cluster analysis and the idea of regional division.Detailed analysis and simulation results show that, in data-related network applications, the routing methods in this paper are significantly better than former hierarchical routing algorithms in saving energy and extending the network life. There are more than30%enhancement than LEACH protocol.
