This paper presents a basic design and methodology for the management information system of construction project, which is the integrity of construction cost control and real estate project control. This design and methodology make use of computer by means data base organizing information flow and set to provide the quality and quantity aid information, which meets the need of construction-related projects. The graphics and tabular report are the main user interface for data information display. The below is my concrete work:(1) The analysis of current status of enterprise cost control clarifies the objective for real estate cost MIS’s development including the functional and performance requirement. Based on the requirement analysis for client users, the derived uses cases facility the following system design and implementation.(2) Referring to the basic workflow for the construction enterprise, this paper brings about the overall architecture and the data storage scheme. This part work focus on the architecture design for real estate cost MIS. This design include the logics and functions. There are3modules comprised of the MIS:estimated cost component, dynamical cost management component and the cost report component. The design of storage scheme covers entity relationship and the conceptual database design.(3) The detailed design part elaborates the system logical diagram and the function design for each module. The cost of each phase during construction project will be controlled by MIS in real time. The combination of top-down and bottom-up analysis methodology improves the reusability of the whole software, at the same time, it also avoids the duplication of coding greatly. The modification of business flow can be easily achieved by changing the MIS’s configuration, which reduces the cost for future update in the case of hard-coded design.(4) The system implementation and tests chapter states the algorithm for each module, the computation methodology and the work-flow implementation. In the end of this paper, the function and performance are both tested by quality and quantity. The test result is analyzed deeply in the last.
