So far the world still holds a number of large-scale cultural site scenes, how to show the unique cultural scientific and artistic value of scenes in a wider range,while able to properly protect the precious cultural site scenes making it preserved longer, is an important problem to be solved in the field of cultural heritage protection. The main contents of this paper are listed as follow:(1)3D reconstruction digital protection of the third excavation sit of the pit one of the Terracotta Warriors and Western Han graves of Zhang as the background, using laser scanners and3D graphic image processing technology, researches on new technologies and methods of the scenes digital preservation, proposes new methods that apply to3D reconstruction of large-scale site scenes, completes application of scene3D reconstruction.(2)Propose a new point cloud denoising algorithm. The algorithm is applied to large data sets of site scenes based on moving least squares theory and robust smoothing. The algorithm improves mesh denoising algorithm, and the method can be better to eliminate the noise points in the different connection part and the thinner region.(3)Propose a new filling holes algorithm using volumetric diffusion. The solution uses diffusion process consisting of alternating steps of blurring and compositing to obtaining the hole boundary and filling holes within the boundaries. Experiment shows the algorithm is simple to implement, and guaranteed to produce manifold non-interpenetrating surfaces. The algorithm specifically applies to which the holes are too geometrically and topologically complex to fill using triangulation algorithms, and is efficient to run on large datasets of site scenes.(4)Propose a new mesh simplification algorithm based on level-set method. The level-set method is introduced to the three-dimensional model mesh simplification, introduces a energy function and minimizes it to derive a second order geometric partial differential equation in the level-set formulation. Thus, the mesh simplification process is transferred into volumetric diffusion process of an implicit model. The method has been used for mesh simplification of large-scale data sets of scenes, and it is efficient.(5)Implement a three-dimensional reconstruction system based on laser scan data. The system features include:denoising, registration, grid reconstruction, filling holes and mesh simplification. The system is simple and interactive.
