With the development of multimedia technology and information network, the demand for video conference is growing. Video conference should not can only transmit high quality images and audio, but also shoud have the ability to manage the multimedia service by using the comprehensive application platform.The ability of control and management for video conference is provided by softswitch technology. Voice, video, data and other integrated services can be carried by softswitch technology simultaneously, which also can provide the openning standard interface of the application layer to introduce new application rapidly. Compared with the traditional closed architecture of telecommunication networks, softswitch technology can maked the hardware to be the form of software and made the application really divorced from the network and effectively reduced the cost of video conference by using the common computer device.In order to meet users’s demands for remote video conferences and provide the functions of audio/video application and conference management, a visualization defense system based on softswitch technology is designed in this paper. Just surrounding using softswitch technology and sip protocol how to design an IP-based video conference system and how to control and manage the conference, the research and discussion about the system architecture and key function are developed. In accordance with the conference process scheme and the design idea of modular and openning system, the design scheme of conference system based on softswitch technology was presented. The system device functions were designed at the same time, in which the function designs of visualization defense platform and group call are the key point. The designs of the sysytem include the topological structure of the system, the function design of server apparatus and terminal apparatus.The visualization defense system based on softswitch technology was built on the C/S structure and achieved the two-way transmission, scheduling and management of audio/video through the unified user interface and management interface. This system supported the audio/video incoming calls, video queues, video/audio recording storage and other application processes during the course of remote defense.Finally, the equipment selection and related port configuration of the system are successfully completed according to the designed scheme. The configuration content of system administrator is provided. Then, the actual test environment of the conference system is set up and the related tests are completed in the paper. The result shows that the test case achieved to the effect of practical application.
