IGBT is an electronic device in the early eighties, It belongs to a new power semiconductor devices. The characteristic of voltage input is along with the characteristic of low resistance on-state output. It can replace the GTR and power MOSFET devices in many industrial fields. With the power electronics technology develop in the high-frequency and high-power electric field,Electronic devices has been to move forward along the two efforts of high frequency and high power. IGBT is a class of new devices, it draws on the advantages of these two devices, avoiding their shortcomings. IGBT is a new type of semiconductor device with the characteristics of high input impedance, low power consumption, it also has a simple control circuit and can work under high pressure and high current. It has been widely used in power electronics control technology. At the same time, such devices are also widely used in the field of AC motor control, relays, switching power supplies, inverters, active filtering.With the widely use, the performance of IGBT device has become a great concern to people. Because the high-current, high-voltage devices are more used in railway locomotives, the four-quadrant rectifier units and the inverter units in traction converter both use IGBT component to continuously control the traction and braking. According to the fault reporting of IGBT module in railway locomotive, we can find in some months. IGBT module failure rate increased significantly. Thus we develop a detection system ofIGBT module in order to analysis the reason for failure deeply.Firstly, this paper briefly describes the IGBT components and intelligent modules, research and analysis the phenomenon in the fault report. The paper identifies the framework of overall detection system, it describe the various parts of hardware and the part of software in detail. Not only the system detects the IGBT module temperature and ambient humidity, but also analysis the waterways in cooling system of module to select the best optimization model. The work of this paper are as follows:(1) The basic working principle and characteristics of IGBT power semiconductor devices are studied, the knowledge of intelligent modules are learned. At the same time, the development of IGBT and the domestic and foreign status of components detecting are briefly described.(2) Designed a detection system which can detect the temperature of railway IGBT module and ambient humidity. The system can detect in real-time, and the data can be displayed on the screen. We can use the peripherals to save the data and print the result.(3) Finally, this paper design four internal waterways of the IGBT module structure cooling radiator, and give a way to transform the radiator by the simulation analysis and experimental data.The paper concludes all the work at last, and describes for the module temperature and humidity detection. It not only points out something need to improve in IGBT module detecting, but also looks for the future development of IGBT detection and thermal optimization.
