Intelligent management of warehouse can be realized by means of database bar code system. However, working efficiency will be greatly reduced when large amount of materials need to be put in or get out of the warehouse. Such a reduction of the working efficiency results from the difficulties in locating the material storage position. Therefore, an intelligent warehouse guidance system based on the Linux Operation System is designed in this thesis guiding the operators to locate the material storage position. Such a system will be of great value for improving the operational efficiency.The design process of three modules and two communication protocol of the intelligent warehouse guidance system, namely:the client module, server module, hypogynous machine module, communication protocol between server and clien as well as between server and hypogynous machine, are described in this thesis. Particular discussions with regard to Linux transplantation, the dynamic memory allocation, the encapsulation of protocol data, double process mechanism of the server, message queue communication mechanism between processes, Linux kernel bus device driver, LED array circuit of hypogynous machine, three-color LED selection are presented.Functions such as data acquisition, data transmission among the client, the server and the hypogynous machine, LED array driving by the hypogynous machine are realized in the intelligent warehouse guidance system. Finally, different states of functions of the warehouse operation system are represented with different indices and different colors of the LEDs in the array.
