As technology advances and the increase in the demand for efficient management, people areraising their requirements in a smarter work environment. Meanwhile, with the increasinginvestment in educational hardware of the universities of the country, the founder of the varioustypes of laboratory offers very favorable conditions for raising the level of students’ skills andunderstanding the course contents. However, how to manage the resources of these laboratoriesmore effectively, and how to mobilize the enthusiasm of science and engineering students’hands-on practice more effectively, which need to be thought, and form an effective mechanism inthe contemporary college education. In order to meet the needs of the efficient management of theuniversity laboratories, this thesis describes a laboratory access control and management systemdesigned based on this need in detail. This system has many features like high processing capacity,high degree of automation, and powerful management. Practice has proved that it is very suitablefor the management needs of the university laboratory.In this paper, an integrated feature-rich embedded access control and management system isintroduced, with analyzing the characteristics of the existing access control technology andmanagement system, and combining with the functional requirements of the actual system. Thesystem consists of embedded terminal and the server host, both for data communication via awired network. In the server side, users can maintain information directly on the host, and you canalso check the information that you need through a wired network or wireless communicationnetwork.The main purpose of the system design and functionality include:1. Access control system can quickly identify the user identity information, and store identityinformation, laboratory information and the time information when user operates.2. Correspondingly control every terminal access control system of laboratories through aprogram on the server host, including work status adjustment, data updating, abnormaldiagnostic.3. Establish a student information database on the server host, it can be maintained by aprogram on the host, and the information can be synchronized with the access control oflaboratory.4. Laboratory terminal system can reflect the using information of the laboratory in its controlin real time; server host program can update the using information of the laboratory.5. Through the network, the using information of the various laboratories can be queried.6. With the use of database, managers can analyze the statistics of students’ the attendance inexperiment content on a regular basis, and then they can get the right curriculum, andenhance the students’ enthusiasm.Based on the above, this paper introduces the system in the design of both the hardware andsoftware two aspects.In the hardware design, first of all, analyze the needs in details, and then point out the necessityand applicability of using the microprocessor S3C2440based on ARM9. Second, describe thedesign of the minimized circuit based on S3C2440, which consist of SDRAM, NAND FLASH,and NOR FLASH. In this part, the paper also introduces the peripheral chips used by the hardwarepart, including the Ethernet chip, USB chip and so on. After that, the design and use of the finger module in the access control system are described, which also includes a common instruction setof the finger module. Finally, this part describes the design concept and schematic of the systemused in the wireless communication module, and how to use that.The content of the system’s software design is the focus of this article, so it is introduced fairlydetailed. In the aspect of the embedded software, this part introduced the method to structure theembedded software platform and port embedded Linux system with an entire file system. In orderto guarantee the normal work of the hardware, it is followed by a brief compilation of some of themajor drivers for the hardware, including network device drivers and programming. At the end ofthis section, it describes the structures of the embedded GUI development environment. In theother part of the software design, the paper make the preparation of specific applications as themain content, respectively, described the preparation of the embedded GUI application and thehost computer server applications based on C#.The last part of this paper, introduced the results of the testing and analysis of the system. Testmethod is according with the order by the part to the overall. First, ensure the function of each part,and then link the whole system, accomplish the entire system test. In the test of entire system, thispaper also record and analyze the performance of the system in function and capability twoaspects.The final test proved that the system completes the prior main objectives and requirements, andthe performance basically achieves the practical application of results. Facts have proved that thisdesign is really an innovative, efficient system and helpful for experimental teaching and students’active hands-on practice. At the end of this paper, the author also proposes some expansion andimprovement of the system. Especially in the context of the Internet of Things era, it is proposedthat a brief analysis of the feasibility of the system combining with the Internet of Things. All ofthat makes the system an excellent design capable of advancing and improvement.
