Along with the social, the rapid development of science and technology, peoplehave come to realize the importance of science. In order to extend their ownknowledge, they have not satisfied to get the knowledge from school, and turn to useall sorts of ways of self-study to gain more knowledge to catch the rhythm of the fastdevelopment of the society.Attribute to this phenomenon described above, there is a huge challenge forlearners’ autonomous learning ability. In general, people accept education from schoolwhen they begin their study, which is the so-called simple reception learning model.We not only learn exactly what teacher teach us with no choose, but also have no freeto choose our own study method. In this case, we developed a sort of dependence, tosome extent, weakening autonomous learning ability. In current social environment,we have to face these problems. It will play a pivotal role in avoiding this dependencethat cultivating autonomous learning ability.In present paper, first we begin with mind mapping in brain science, thenorganize the meanings and development of several concepts including the study of thebrain, learning technology, autonomous learning ability. Through understanding ofthese concepts, we analyze and summarize a concept namely "autonomous learningtechnology". Second, we expound particularly the information on the mode andclassification of memory, and analyze their relationship with meaningful learning.Then we propose IMINDMAP as choice of autonomous learning software tools andgive reasonable explanations, after the analysis of comparing several kinds of mindmapping drawing software, in the mean time the function and significance ofIMINDMAP is specifically described. Finally, through analysis of practical cases ofmind mapping in brain science and independent study of the relationship withautonomous learning technology, we discuss the practical application of mindmapping drawing software IMINDMAP in the cultivation of the learners’ ability tostudy independently. According to the theories above, it is accomplish to combinetheory with practice.Several methods have been used in present study, including the literature research,case analysis, action research, induction method, brain science, to conclude andanalyze systemically research status and development of mind mapping andautonomous learning technology research both domestic and overseas., and severalkinds of mind mapping software are reviewed. In the perspective of brain science, wesum up some issues, including the classification of memory, the relationship betweenmeaningful learning and memory, and through the practice of specific cases is givenas valid arguments. Hope this study would be useful to solve the problems describedabove or meet the need for learners who are eager to find a more suitable way oflearning in some theoretical basis. It will be great that IMINDMAP will be applied in the real learning processes to improve the students’ ability of autonomous learning.
