The implementation of PBN is an important part of China’s civil aviation to enhancenational strength program,the evaluation of the ground-based navigation signal Overlay is anessential part of the design of flight procedures.This article start from the principle ofelectromagnetic wave propagation in the atmosphere and establish a reasonable mathematicalmodel for the propagation of electromagnetic signals,then make use of the secondarydevelopment for ArcGIS to complete the evaluation system of Ground-based navigationsignal overlay while considering the requirements of DME/DME update area for2DMEstation.By studying the priciple of electromagnetic wave propagation in the atmosphere,including line-of-sight progation of electromagnetic waves, correction of refraction ofelectromagnetic waves propagation in atmospheric,and the impact of obstacles shadowinghigh by the Earth’s curved face, establish the mathmatical model of the navigation stationsignal coverage;by comparing the different storage format of digital elevation model,give twodifferent algorithms of ground-based navigiton coverage,and choose one of them to achievethe system;study the secondary development components of ArcGIS,using ArcEnginecomponents and c#language in Visual Studio.NET2008programming environment toachieve the evaluation system of ground-based navigtion coverage on PBN.This topic is for the DME/DME navigation principles in PBN,the scope of appliciationand navigation performance requirements.The topic analyze the DME/DME updatedistrict,and present visualization in ArcGIS by using the mathematical model of the signalcoverage.By analyzing the feasibility of DME/DME ground-based navigation in Xiamen GaoqiPBN fight procedure,fully demonstrates the practicality and correctness of the subject,reachthe design objectives of the subject,and improve the degree of automation and accuracy of thedesign of flight procedures,this system also can be a evaluation tool for the PBNground-based navigation and site erection work,it is conductive for promoting the PBNfolight procedures based on ground-based navigation.
