As the rapid development of China’s civil aviation, with the growing number ofairport ,it bring about objective economic benefits, but the assignment and distribution ofairspace is now becoming gradually unable to meet the needs of traffic growth. Part of theairports congests and delays seriously, evenly unsafe events occurred cause of overloadairspace, the shortage in the airspace has increasingly become a huge block for thedevelopment of China’s civil aviation. In recent years, as an important measure andcomposition of China’s airspace reform lead by the CAAC(Civil Aviation Administration ofChina) to promote the new technical standards PBN (Performance Based Navigation), andstrive to achieve the transition of this standard across the country before 2015. KaramayAirport as one of the third installment of the completion of the PBN procedure designingAirport, located in the Junggar Basin, is one of the main civil airport of Xinjiang region. ByPBN procedure, the airport can effectively improve aviation safety, increase airspace capacityand to reduce ground-based navigation facilities, construction and maintenance costs,promote energy conservation.The research in flight procedures designing automation is rare domestically, this studyaims to combine the practical flight procedures designing case, assisted by computertechnology to solve technical problems in the designing. It can provide a certain referencevaluable in the study of flight procedures design in the future.This paper elaborates the research done with computer technology and modern flightprocedures design theory to the three aspects:(1) Study on the Karamay airspace structure and conventional flight procedures, finishthe designing of Karamay RNP APCH procedure. Including preparation and data collection,design, assertion of design, design discussion, protection areas drawing and simulated flighttest etc..(2) Study on three-dimensional modeling and simulation technology in modernengineering, compare and choose different approaches to establish flight procedures in theobstacle limitation surface and simulation . Using 3D simulation and secondary development on OPEN GL to realize the automatic assessment of the obstacles and the parametric display.(3) Using computer technology to build automatic computing program, and completethe windowing interface to solve temperature correction and the waypoint turningparameters’calculation for the process of completing Karamay Airport RNP-APCHprocedures.
