In recent years, with the constant and rapid development of mobile telecommunications as well as the network construction and market development, and with the expansion of network and users, there is a sharp rise in network coverage, which also brings higher requirements for the quality of the network. Apart from the the basic maintenance which is intended to ensure network security and stable operation, the continuous network optimization, which is meant to guarantee and improve the quality and performance of the network, is of greater importance.This paper firstly introduces the basic principles and key technologies of CDMA system, which is the use of orthogonal codes assigned to different users with different modulation signals, to achieve the multi-user access simultaneously to the same frequency and network communications system, by introducting spread spectrum technology, fast power control technology, soft switch technology, Rake multipart diversity reception, and other key technologies.compared to TDMA network, it is characteristic of high system capacity, large coverage area, low call-drop rate, and low transmission power. Then, it presents a discussion about the general approach to network optimization, whose purpose is to improve both hardware environment and software environment. "Hardware optimization" mainly includes the antenna optimization and optimization of equipment failure, etc.;"Software Optimization" mainly refers to the frequency optimization, PN optimization, optimal adjustment of the radio parameters, etc. commonly via road test, dial test, parameter modification, testing, analysis, OMCR performance statistical analysis, and the index data. And the three typical problems of CDMA network, namely, dropped calls, switch failure, and access failure, are further analyzed. Finally, this paper has conducted the research and the project practice to the CDMA network optimization in Jincheng, the network assessment has found the high proportion of soft handover, the low success rate of call setup, repeater problems, and poor regional network coverage, and through the optimization of RF radio frequency,the antenna feeder parameters have been adjusted in 50 districts. The key indicators have made adjustments to the four parameters in ECAM message retransmission interval and the three parameters in the soft switch SOFT SLOPE,and 12 repeaters have been optimized and adjusted. The network performance has been significantly improved through the above optimization and adjustment, and post-project proposals have been put forth on the unresolved issues.This paper, in combination with theoretical analysis, has carried out the systematic optimization to Jincheng CDMA network, solving such problems as pilot pollution, and poor coverage in more than 20 areas, the problems of network indicators in 12 repeaters, and as a result, the call-setup success rate has increased from 99.1%, and soft-switching factor has decreased from 82.6% to 67.8%. This optimization greatly improves network performance and user perception, summarizes some typical optimization methods and cases, and enriches the thinking and methods of CDMA network optimization.
