As the most important terminal equipment of the range visual system,photoelectric theodolite can not be replaced, because its imaging quality directlyaffects the performance of the experiment visual system, which plays a significantrole in decision-making to the leaders. Therefore, according to the characters of therange image, it is an urgent demand for the range construction to enhance the imagein real time before video output. According to the present requirement anddevelopment of the range, this paper researched a real time image enhancementalgorithm based on the DM642development platform. The research is divided intoseveral parts contains hardware channel debugging, image enhancement algorithmdesign and optimization on the DM642.In the hardware debugging process, RAW data acquisition driver wasdeveloped according to the peripheral equipment management mechanism ofDSP/BIOS, and the image enhancement system infrastructure software based onDSP/BIOS was gradually completed, which were the basics of enhancementalgorithm. On the embedded real-time video image processing platform,processingeffect and processing speed were incompatible,the best match of the two factorswas the key problem for enhancement algorithm selection. According to the rangeinfrared image characteristics, such as low contrast and serious noise,the videoimage enhancement algorithm framework was designed and optimized according to the characters of the DM642and the algorithm. At last, the real-time video imageenhancement was achieved. The result indicated that the output image contrast wasimproved, the details of the targets became prominent and the output video imagewas excellent for observing and tracking the targets.
