The more frequent social activities such as competitions, performances and exhibitions, as well as the growing number of participants results in higher requirements on intelligence,effectiveness and convenience of conference management. The existing conference management systems can not only provide basic functions as staff registration and pass issue, but also possess features as video conference, conference call, face_recognition_based access control. While, most of them ignore the problem to locate a person in urgent circumstance in a large conference call. Therefore, providing the exact location of the conference participants have become particularly important.Facing the requirements on positioning functions, the thesis provides the design and realization of conference-hall positioning system. On the basis of the positioning of wireless sensor networks, we use the development kit CC2430/31of TI to imeplement the conference-hall positioning system. Through detailed analysis of ZigBee protocol, the thesis proposes the improved four-reference-node distance measurement algorithm. Further, to improve the positioning accuracy, Gaussian filter method is introduced to deal with the RSSI data. At the same time, we analyzes the the format of the data-and command-frame of the reference-and locating-node, and design the software of the client’s computer and the database in the server, so that the administrator of the system can rapidly facilitate the positioning system.The test results show that the software in the client’s PC and the datebase can fulfill the needs of the system. The simulation and tesing results show that the proposed algorithm can both reduce the error of the system and increase the stability of the hardware.
