The Design And Implementation Of A Web Service Based Mobile Sales Management System

With the population of mobile devices and the development of mobile-bussiness technology, it becomes an important direction to develop a mobility application basing on web services right now. It’s extremely meaningful for retail and fast pin industry to improve the mobile system framework, work efficiency of sales and enterprise, and make distribution channel more controllable. On the background to solve the problem in an old SMS mobile sales program from a fast pin enterprise, a new mobile sales management system is developed based on Android platform and web services technology, which highly improves the functions and user experience in mobile sales.The design of new mobile sales management system is divided into two parts, web-service side and the client side. On the web-service side, two of the major business, sales and performance analysis, are designed basing on SOAP and RESTful web services. The top-down method is adopted to design the web services based on SOAP. Firstly we discussed which web services should be defined, and then we discussed the detail design of backend database. The SOA framework is referenced in designing RESTful web services, and five steps of division of design are data set planning, resource definition, URI design and unified interface subset definition, the representation of resources and HTTP response code design. On the client side, the design of function modules is described by the interaction of the client application components.The mobile sales management system is designed to mainly provide services for sales in fast pin company. The system provides the synchronization and show of data such as shop visit list, products, promotion activities and order history. The system also provides functions such as order placement, order modification, order deletion and order review. Meanwhile, the system is combined with performance tightly. All of this makes the mobile client works flexibly. During the realization of mobile sales management system, focal and difficult points are introduced mainly on the side of mobile client. The points discussed include how Android client do remote calls to web services, how to parse response data from web services side, how to persist data in local client, and how to push order feedback.The main topic of this article is to discuss how to implement an mobile sales management system based on web services on Android platform. The system passes pilot test on real devices in Hangzhou, and it’s proved to achieve basic requirements of mobile sales activities and system performance. The system is of practical value.
