Meteorological observation provides data for weather forecasting. Climate information accumulated from long-term observations provides important data for the planning, design and research of agriculture, forestry, industrial, transportation, military, hydrology, health and environmental protection departments. In order to realize the needs of network and wireless of meteorological observation system, a wireless sensor network of meteorological observation system is designed.Meteorological observation system for wireless sensor networks mainly includes weather sensor nodes, coordination, data communication devices, handheld calibrators, wireless printer, host computer software, and other components. This paper mainly describes the design and application of the coordinator, handheld calibrator and wireless printer, as well as integration testing of the system.Coordination is composed of CC2530wireless processor, LCD display circuits, alarm circuits, and serial interface circuits to receive and monitor the meteorological data from each meteorological sensor, and these meteorological data is directly connected to a PC or a data communication device via RS232to be sent to the host computer. Handheld Calibrator composed of the CC2530wireless processor, the STC SCM, LCM liquid crystal display module, the memory circuit and clock circuit is used to receive, display and storage data of standard devices and meteorological sensor data needed to be calibrated, and the data will be compared with sensor data and the standard device data, then it will send the calibrated data to coordinator. The calibrated data will be sent to the standard sensor node to realize the standard of sensor node. Wireless printer includes wireless printer interface card and a mini-printer for printing data of calibration results sent by the calibrators.A ZigBee wireless sensor network is established by the coordinator. Each meteorological sensor node is added to the wireless sensor network and will transmit meteorological data. After receiving meteorological data coordinator will send it to the host computer. Once needed, meteorological sensors will be calibrated by handheld calibrators, and the wireless printer will print the calibration results so as to build a meteorological observation system of wireless sensor network. The design of the system avoids the intricate connection of each part of the traditional meteorological observation system and improves the flexibility of the layout of the meteorological observation system.
