In recent years, instant communication, information and information sharing have become an indispensable part of everyday life. Instant communication software (such as: QQ, MSN and Gtalk, etc.) also would have become an essential tool of communication between people. Therefore, network management personnel have to pay more and more attention to the safety problems. Designing a instant communication monitoring system which meets some special demands also becomes extremely vital. There are some potential problems when people are using the instant communication software. For example, the unhealthy information and public opinion are spreading, the government and state secrets are leaked out. Aiming at the above questions, the author does much packets capturing experiment and social network analysis, focusing on studing the protocol of the latest version of instant communication, and specially realized the founction of content filtering and analysis for MSN, and analysised on the point of social network. This thesis’s main contributions are divided into the following several aspects:1. Introduce the basic knowledge of instant communication monitoring technology, including network packets capturing and analysis techniques.2. Further detailed analyze the protocol of the latest version of the popular instant communication software, and realize the identifying, monitoring and content filtering function for MSN specially.3. Deeply studing the social network analysis and getting enough knowledge ready for the social network chart drawing and analysis of instant communication process.4. Set up the instant communication content filtering and analysis system and test network environment, capturing a large amount of data packets by the sysytem, and extracting the effective information and test, at last vertify the conclusion.
