With the continual development of the computer technology and the network communication technology, instant messaging (InstantMessaging) has become an important network online activity and has also become a hot topic in Internet applications. Improving the efficiency of the customs, lowering office costs, along with offering new methods and ideas, this applications area attracts more and more attention. This topic designes and implementes a new type of instant messaging based on the extant database safety technology and network communication technology. In order to meet the requirements of users, this system provides a file transfer, online information, text, and instant messaging communications on one platform. This essay analyzes a variety of popular instant messaging softwares and the instant messaging function of the system is identified while the structure of different real-time communication system is also founded. The key technology of instant messaging system is to improve instant messaging system containing P2P (PeertoPeer, connections or peer-peer network), and C/S (Client/Server, Client/Server) mode, real-name system for authentication and to support the design of multi-protocol conversion communication protocol. This essay analyzes the main components module of the real-time communication system'client and server-side in detail, discusses the implementations of each module and detailed design of the main functions of each module and draw the module flow chart. Finally, the essay conducted a performance test which is designed mainly for server-side of real-time communication systems while it also analyzes the test data. The experimental data suggests that the system owning high reliability and transmission efficiency. On the same way it is easy to expand and implement. All in all, the system essentially achieves its design goals.
