Safety is the eternal theme of the railway transport. Under the condition of a normal train body and equipment, in order to safe driving, we must ensure that the track is normal and no foreign body invasion railway clearances. But China’s mountain railway construction accounts a large proportion of railway construction, due to natural disaster or man-made causes, collapse and the rolling stones may occur while the train line through the mountains, it will be a serious threat to railway safety once the rolling rocks on the hillside fall into the train line. In order to promote the safe operation of trains, the paper makes an in-depth study on the automatic monitoring technology of the rolling stone invasion in rail transport. On this basis, the paper develops the disaster prevention and safety monitoring system of the rolling stones invasion, which has a great significance to ensure the operational safety of the mountain railway. From the point of security and science, the paper proposes the design of the system which monitors slope safety in railway transport process using wireless sensor network technology. Such a system determines a reasonable type of sensor according to the specific requirements of the slope environment and the advantages of fiber grating technology relative to traditional monitoring techniques; The paper also proposes the deployment program of sensor nodes according to the specific demand of data acquisition and mechanical characteristics of the passive flexible safety net; On the basis of in-depth study of wireless sensor network communication protocol design for real-time monitoring, the paper focuses on analyzing and chooses the suitable data link layer protocols and network layer protocol for the system in the existing communication protocols. In the process of analyzing the system architecture, the paper runs through energy efficiency mechanisms and proposes two energy-saving programs which are the node mixed deployment program and sub-cluster linear network topology structure. In the program of the node mixed deployment, the paper divides the sensor nodes into ordinary sensor nodes and redundant sensor nodes, in the same time, the formula of density of redundant node is deduced according to the regional total energy and energy consumption rate ratio is a constant. In the system, ordinary sensor nodes are arranged evenly redundant sensor nodes are arranged based on the formula of density of redundant nodes. The paper makes theoretical analysis of the design and proves it through the simulation platform OMNeT++, which concludes that the system life cycle under the node mixed deployment program is twice times the system life cycle under the node uniform deployment. In the program of clustering linear network topology, according to the actual situation of the side slope protection and under the guidance of clustering routing ideas, the system clusters the monitoring reasonably and builds the linear network model. This program makes the energy within each cluster effectively balanced and extends the life cycle of the network successfully. On the basis of overall design of the entire system, the paper mainly researches on programs which can extend the system life cycle. From the angles of theoretical analysis and simulation, the paper proves the feasibility of the system.
