As the limited energy storage, a Wireless Sensor Network’s (WSN’s) own character, how to prolong the network’s lifetime is a key problem at the beginning of it. This paper studied the coverage control, flow regulating and services distinguish problem in WSN, aimed to make the network to overcome the shortages as mentioned at a certain extent, and improve the performance of the whole network. These points specifically included:(1) Coverage Control:All neighbors in the network exchanged the position information, and then determine its own status to be working or redundant by a special algorithm. After this phase, working nodes ran a routing algorithm to consist network, executed data transmission; redundant nodes played a role as "backup forces", and dynamically added to the working when working node became invalid. Each node (except Sink) maintained a finite state machine;(2) Flow Adjustment:All nodes(except Sink) defined two flow thresholds, calculated its’’next flow" by a flow prediction model, and compared the result to thresholds to determine the data transition strategies to be "father-son-grandson","father-son" or ordinary.(3) Distinguish services:Divided the affairs in the network into best-effort-delivery, real-time and reliable affairs, and applied different data forwarding policies to each kind. Used a multi-path routing protocol to rise the end to end reliability, each node grasped2-3paths towards Sink.In addition, this paper also introduced hybrid reliability mechanism, network topology analysis and content of multi-path. Hybrid reliability mechanism used "path anticipation+retransmission" approach to make the end-to-end Package Receive Rate (PRR) beyond a required level; Network topology analysis supplied a theory scenario that network can achieve energy equilibrium, thus guide the flow adjustment application; Multi-path method was also used to rise the end-to-end PRR. This paper synthesized the advantages and disadvantages of active and passive routing, formed a mixture multi-path network mode, and were better than the former two under the same conditions.In the end, we used OMNeT++4.1simulation platform to do analogy analysis, compared the aforementioned mechanisms to the similar ones, obtained their advantages and shortcomings, and provided guidance for the future work. The simulation results proved that the improved mechanism can really do some positive influence on network life, power balance and network performance.
