DCN provides information channels for the delivery of Operation Administration and Maintenance messages between Network Management System(NMS) and Network Element(NE) or between NE and NE. With the utilization of DCN, remote management and maintenance can be achieved so that we can guarantee that the network in a usable condition while troubleshooting is also convenient.With the shrinking of TDM services and the maturation of "all IP environment", especially as 3G services launch, the existing circuit-switched transmission network cannot meet the IP-based data services’carrier requirements, which requires transmission network to make the transformation. That is, the equipments have to transfer from "multi-service interface adaptation" to "multi-service core adaptive". Such packet requirements of the transmission network itself are raised by IP-based business. But meanwhile, it is also necessary to ensure that traditional services(such as voice)are of the normal operation, which means requiring the integration of both packet and transmission technology. Under the circumstances, Packet transport network(PTN) comes into being. Currently, PTN is still under the way of standardizing, but the manufacturers have launched relevant equipments, major domestic carriers have begun to test them and even in some areas PTN network has been established. It can be said that an agreement has been achieved by operators, equipment manufacturers and industry experts: PTN will be the development direction of MAN in the future.Therefore, this text follows the pace and trend of PTN technological development closely, which introduces the origin of PTN, technology classification and development systematically and comprehensively and pays an important attention to analyzing and explaining key technologies of the PTN, its scenarios, network positioning and deployment strategies, also some other key aspects.First of all, there is a simple introduction of DCN on the subject of its elements and the two style of DCN organization. As SDH declines while PTN rises simultaneously, we focus on the research of DCN technologies used in PTN. Secondly there is a need to analyze technique principles and the framework of PTN, especially its key techniques such as pwe3, survivability, QOS,and we emphasize the support for different types of services. There are two vendors to provide equipments for Beijing Mobile, and there are two kinds of DCN, one based on TCP/IP and the other based on OSI. The large scale of the DCN network may bring some problems along, and there is a method to solve this problem in the text. Then we make a transparent explanation on NE ID, node ID and NE IP and the relationship among them. At last there is the hierarchical structure of the DCN of Beijing mobile PTN network. Nowadays the insufficiency of the PTN equipments leads to a certain DCN problem, and an innovation research can solve this problem. The last part of the thesis relates to this new mothod on the configuration of primary and backup gateway.
