According to different types of network, the provision of value-added services has many ways, in which the service node is a convenient and common one.Service Node(SN) provides service control function (SCF), service data function (SDF), and special resource function (SRF) in an intelligent service, as a completed service platform. It needs the capability of not only support accesses with various signal protocols, but also providing operation and processing of media resources in accordance with the requirements of the service logics which are running in the platform. The Intelligent Service Node Access Gateway described in this paper is an entity which implements the access layer function of the Service Node. It originally integrates the signal access function and the media operating function into a single functional entity, and provides a good support to service control function of SN. It has low-cost and strong scalability, whose solution has a certain reference value for the design and development of SN platform. The project was based on VAS2000 business intelligence platform developed by Dascom information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd.. In the selection of the underlying hardware, after full consideration on cost-effective we chose SHD series cards produced by Hangzhou synway, providing signaling and media capabilities. The design focused on the signaling and media access features' relationship. Final test results show that the Access Gateway has good reliability, portability, scalability and working performance. There are mainly five parts in this article. The first part (Chapter 2) introduces basic knowledge, including value-added services, Service Node, VAS2000 and Synway cards. The second part (Chapter 3) analyzes the requirement for the Access Gateway in the whole application system's view. The most important content which is in the third part (Chapter 4) discusses the gateway's overall structure, and the design of main modules. The fourth part (Chapter 5) is for deployment options. The fifth part (Chapter 6) introduces the situation of testing, mainly including testing environment and content, and gives a summary of test results.
