With the development of sensor technology, wireless communication technology, networktechnology and embedded systems technology, wireless sensor network which is consisted ofsensors with capabilities of perception, computing and wireless communications got people’s greatattention. Wireless sensor network is a new kind of sensor networks, in this network, the nodes cancommunicate with others through the help of intermediate nodes, in addition to their capabilities ofcollecting and processing of sensor information. Today’s wireless sensor network is being used formedical care, industrial control, environmental monitoring, etc. And it will play more and moreimportant role in people’s lives and production activity with its development and application.Sowireless sensor network has a very broad application prospect.Water quality parameters of treatment pond are needed to be monitored during the process ofwastewater, so that the process can be proceed smoothly. It is meaningful to adopt wireless sensornetwork technology in wastewater treatment. This paper introduces a kind of wireless senornetwork monitoring system for wastewater treatment. The system is based on ZigBee wirelesstechnology, with host computer and lower computer. Lower computer collects water qualityparameters, and the host computer is responsible for the process of collected data, as display,analysis, storage, etc. Whenever the water quality parameters exceed a set value, the host computerwill give an alarm. Lower computer is consisted of ZigBee node, and ZigBee nodes form a starnetwork. ZigBee coordinator is the center of the star network and is responsible for the formation ofthe network, adding ZigBee end nodes into the network and communicating with the host computer,passing the data from ZigBee end nodes to the host computer. ZigBee end node is responsible fordata collection, passing the collected data to the ZigBee coordinator. The host computer is PC, andcommunicates with ZigBee coordinator through the serial port. ZigBee protocol is the 2006agreement, and TI Zstack is used. MCGS configuration software is used as PC software.The final system test results were given and analyzed by paper, and it showed that the systembasically meet the design requirements.
