With the development of automotive industry, the traditional way tomanufacture drive axle can not adapt to the rapidly growing marketdemand, when design drive axle components in a traditional way, theprototype would be made more often, and the product development cyclewould be long. To deal with this problem, the author came up with a virtualdesign method based on the further development of three-dimensionaldesign software and analysis software, and structure a dedicatedparametric design and analysis software system for truck axle design.By using computer hardware and software technology, the drive axleparametric design and analysis system realized the parametric design andanalysis of drive axle parts. Combined with software engineering concepts,the processes of designing drive axle and functional requirements werestudied. A lot of research on the method of designing drive axle parametricdesign and analysis system was carried out. All of the studies were basedon database technology, CAD/CAE integration technology, Pro/E andANSYS further development. Effective solutions on the drive axleparametric design and automated assembly were proposed in the paper,parameters database and assembly information model were also established.And the force situations of main components on drive axle were carried outin detail. Parameterized finite element analysis of these components was also done. The study would provide a reference to improve the drive axles.
