Moving objects database is a system which manages and operates the time and space attributeof moving objects. At present, most researches force on moving objects’ location, and thetechnology relating to moving ranges is very limited. Now spatio-temporal application based onmoving regions is increasing, but moving points’ modeling can’t adapt to these applications:Meanwhile, agents’ intelligence attracts many people unceasingly to excavate its technology.Because of the differences between moving points and moving regions, it’s very necessary toresearch moving regions. XML is extensible, flexible, and isomeric, and these features can fit theuncertainty of moving regions and diversity of agent units and rule bases very well. For the limit of the model based on moving points and the requirement of moving regions, anew model based on moving regions is proposed in the dissertation. This model not only studissobjects’ location as moving points, but researches their shape and some complex movements, suchas rotation and shape changes. Firstly, conceptual model of moving regions is provided and isexpressed as XML document. Conceptual models are very intuitive, but they are too complex topresent trajectory model of moving objects. Therefore, two representative models based onmoving regions are proposed. One is snapshot model, and the other is rotation andtranslation-based model. Secondly, according to the above moving region model, a new agentmodel based on moving regions is proposed. At lastly, a simulation experiment is set in battlefield environment. In this experiment, chariots are moving objects based on regions, and obstaclesare static regions: the agents’ rules are also designed for the experiment. The states of agents insimulation are stored to XML database, and the datum in the database can be used for simulationplayback or after action analysis.
