In recent years, mobile communications is becoming an important part of the future satellitecommunication network. With the development of satellite communications technology, products ofSATCOM (satellite communication) on the move are continuously technical innovation. Low profileantenna is the development direction of SATCOM on the move, and it has become a hot topic ofsatellite communications. There are the many different kinds of antennas for “SATCOM on the move”,such as parabolic reflector antennas, parabolic antennas, panel antennas, phased array antennas, andso on.This dissertation focuses on the demand of low-profile antennas for SATCOM-on-the-move, andhas done some study design and analysis, summarized as follows:First, a broadband dual-polarized antenna is designed by using an aperture coupling microstripantenna. It has high isolation. The simulated results could meet the design requirements. To furtherverify the unit, a1×4linear array is formed, then simulated, processed and tested. Without theinfluence of the antenna test environment, the simulated and tested result of the1×4linear arraybasically the same.Second, the multi-plate array antenna is discussed. An array antenna with of two plates isdesigned. To a certain extent, it reduces the overall height of the antenna. To further reduce theantenna height, an antenna array with three plates moving alone was designed too. In order to shortenthe simulation time when designing, the simulation software GRASP and POS were used. While someof the programs written by myself are also added to the design. The final optimized result of theantenna can meet the design requirements. Finally, in order to get a lower profile antenna, phased array analyzed. Three phased arrayantennas are designed and discussed. The final design is a one-dimensional phased array forSATCOM-on-the-move system. The phased array antenna has a very low height. But to some extent, the side-lobe and gain at low elevation were just no so good. However, the antenna is to meet therequirements of the SATCOM-on-the-move system.
