This paper analyzes the characteristics of IaaS, designs and implements theresource monitoring module of enterprise cloud management based on IaaS, andprovides an intelligent and user-friendly solution for cloud infrastructure managementand resource monitoring. Cloud computing service can be divided into three types,including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. IaaS providers, such as VMware, provide enterpriseusers with powerful virtual infrastructure service. But VMware does not provide anintelligent and user-friendly solution in flexibility management, automateddeployment and resource monitoring. To solve this problem, enterprise cloudmanagement system provides a lightweight and software-based solution that user caneasily manage and monitor cloud infrastructure.The main works in this paper are as follow. First, this paper analyzes thecharacteristics of VMware’s enterprise cloud platform, proposes the concept ofdeployment unit, implements flexibility management and resource monitoring ofcloud infrastructure. Second, this paper uses a structure that combining Spring,Hibernate and Flex to design and implement the resource monitoring module ofenterprise cloud management system. The system’s structure is very clear, and hasstrong expansibility and maintainability. Third, this paper designs the data collectingengine for resource monitoring, and uses JMX to collect data from applicationsrunning on the cloud infrastructure. Last, this paper uses RRD to store the collecteddata and generate monitoring graphs, then presents the graphs to user.The main contributions are as follow. First, this paper provides an intelligent and user-friendly solution for cloud infrastructure management and resource monitoring.Second, this paper provides flexible rules to monitor the resources consumed by theapplication running on the cloud infrastructure. Third, monitoring data will bepresented to user in the form of graphs; user can easily get the resource usage throughan intuitive way. Last, user can customize the monitoring dashboard by classifying themonitoring graphs, and develop a more efficient way for centralized monitoring andcontrolling.This paper designs and implements the resource monitoring module of enterprisecloud management system according to the software engineering developmentprocess and specification. The system has already been finished, after testing anddeploying, now is running for try in some companies. The result is obvious. Theresource monitoring module provides a flexible configuration of the monitoring rules,beautiful monitoring graphs and user-friendly dashboard. The system hasdemonstrated the practical value to the enterprise users.
