An Investigation On The Drivers Visual Disturbance Of Outdoor LED Display Lighting In The City Intersection Area

With the continuous development of city construction process, a new type of media advertisement carrie(routdoor LED display)appears more and more in the city. It has many advantages that different from the traditional media, such as large area, bright color, dynamic change, high brightness, strong visual impact and so on. And along with the more mature technology and the lower cost, outdoor LED display gets more and more favour of people. But many problems are exposed gradually, especially in the city intersection of traffic sensitive areas, the large LED screen is too bright, too fast transformation frequency to the past pedestrians and vehicles driving personnel so that cause visual disturbance and visual pollution. Further More, flicker dynamic, easily color change disperse the attention of driving person ,causing a series of car accidents, leading the road traffic safety hazard.For the above phenomenon, this paper introduces the current situation of the study summarized up, analysis the visual characteristics of driver. Based on the investigation, this paper focuses on large LED screen setting in the intersection of Tianjin for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of research. Through the brightness analysis and the subjective feeling of drivers, we analysed the data, get the basic data of the brightness of the LED screen, the background brightness on region environment and drivers subjective evaluation to the brightness of the large screen LED flash, dynamic characteristics. According to the data obtained the corresponding control management advice, we discussed how to set large LED screen more scientific and reasonable from the macro and micro levels.Through this topic research, we get the basic brightness data of large LED screen in the night on the urban roads of Tianjin intersection. Combined with the existing standard management requirements, we evaluation the mean brightness of Large screen LED. And we also had more clear understanding to the existing problem. So that we could provide some reference to further puts forward planning management advice, reduce visual disturbance of drivers, improve the driving comfort and safety, control management outdoor LED large screen more scientific and reasonable, put it into the city of outdoor advertising lighting planning system and perfect urban lighting planning.
