The natural landscape simulation is a hotspot of the computer graphics research. As acommon natural landscape, the natural movement of the tree in the wind is applied in manyfields, such as games, movies, and computer aided garden and landscape design,environmental prediction and visualization, computer animation and virtual scene drawing.This paper mainly studied and talked about how to produce the3D animation of naturallandscape by computer.According to the analysis of characteristics and functions of the Maya and the movementcharacteristics of the tree in the wind, the paper realized the movement simulation method ofthe tree in the wind based on animation software Maya. The first step is adopted the Plygonsmethod to established the geometric model of the tree, and created the skeletal system that iscorresponding with a geometry model in the tree is simulated in Maya on the basis ofgeometric model, the paper put forward a method of bone-driven the geometry model in thetree to control the tree’s movement. Then, using the principles of aerodynamics and Newton’ssecond law of motion, related forces and movements are analyzed to provide the input ofdisturbances which causes the fall of leaves and break of branches, eventually established themathematical model of the tree’s movement. Finally, the simulation animation of the treemovement is further generated under the Maya Embedded Language and skeleton controllersystem. In the realization process of the whole the three dimensional animation of the tree inthe wind, according to the principle of the soft body dynamics and rigid body dynamics, theswing and fracture of the branches is simulated, and the solve method of cloth provided at lastmakes the swing and fall of the tree leaves perform in a more natural mode.In the development environment of Maya, this paper realizes the3D animation of thetree combined with Maya Embedded Language, which not only shortens the time ofdevelopment and reduces the work but also simulates the visual simulation of tree movementrealistically.
