Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a kind of non-contact automatic identificationtechnology which comprehensive utilizes integrated circuit, application of electromagnetic fieldtheory, wireless transceivers, data coding and decoding and many other fields of technology. UltraHigh frequency (UHF) RFID technology with the features of long identification distance, fastidentification speed, high security and long sevice life, has widely used in many social fields andbecame the hot spot in world RFID technology research. This paper introduces a design of UHF RFIDreader based on RF transceiver chip AS3992.After the analysis on the current feasible design of the UHF RFID reader, this paper determinedthe whole system design scheme of the Reader. On the selection of main controller and RF transceiverchips, finally used the ARM9core chip S3C2440as the main controller, AS3992as the RF transceiverchip. The design of the Reader system includes baseband part and RF part. The baseband part mainlyincludes main controller S3C2440, external storage circuits, Reset and clock circuits, JTAG interfacecircuits and Power management circuits. The RF part mainly includes RF transceiver chip AS3992,loop filter, power amplifier circuits and transceiver isolation circuits. The software design includes themain program of reader system, protocols control program, Communication processing program andanti-collision program, etc. The main program is responsible for system scheduling of reader, theprotocols control program disposes operating command of the protocols, the communicationprocessing program is charge for the communication between reader system and the backgroundserver, the anti-collision program used to achieve anti-collision program algorithm.Test results of the prototype truck demonstrate that the performance of reader is stable and meetthe design index requirement. The reader which has the characteristic of low cost and simple toaccomplish has some application value. The reader is applied to the sanitation truck work monitoringsystem.
