The performance of wireless communication system is heavily constrained by the condition ofwireless channel. As wireless communication equipments being increasingly complicated and thewireless channel environment being more diverse, the simulation and implementation of wirelesschannel attracts more attention. Accurate simulation of the equipments’ performance in wirelesscommunication gets significantly meaning for the selection of wireless communication technologyand the design of digital receiver. Therefore, it is not only of theoretic value but also of broad prospectfor this dissertation to make a study on the simulation and implementation of Nakagami fadingchannel.First of all, a brief description of wireless channel’s fading and statistical features is presented.Common methods to model and simulate wireless fading channel is then introduced. From the view ofcorrelation, independent and correlated models of Nakagami fading channel are analysed andcompared respectively. Then, several improvements of models are proposed.Secondly, research on the hardware realization of wireless channel simulator is made. Afterabundant work on the design and argument of the target specification, a complete solution of wirelesschannel simulator is given accordingly. The implementation technology of two-path module,Gaussian noise module, doppler frequency shift module, large-scale and small-scale fading moduleare specifically studied. A wireless channel simulator based on correlated Nakagami fading is thendesigned and developed. Finally, a complete test on the functions and specifications of wireless channel simulator isconducted. The testing results indicate that the developed channel simulator matches with theNakagami fading distribution and correlated characteristics. In other words, the channel simulator canaccurately simulate the true environment of wireless channel. Moreover, the wireless channelsimulator is able to run stablely and its functions and specifications are well satisfied.
