With high-speed integration of the digital world and the physical world today, EPCinternet of things comes into our lives. EPC, electronic product code, which is link of productand its information. It can realize automatic identification of information through RFIDtechnology. WSNs are composed with many sensor nodes deployed in a specific area, andsensor nodes communicate with each other via multi-hop and self-organized. In this paper, theresearch starts from EPC system, introduces the components of EPC system, including codingsystems, RFID systems, information networks, and analyzes how it works. It introduces thestructure of the sensor nodes and key technologies of WSN. To the two deficiencies of radiofrequency identification module in EPC system which are energy consumption and labelrepeat reading, we propose a WSN-based system scheme to improve its performance: TheEPC tag reader is integrated into the sensor nodes, replace the sensor module, to be intelligentreader nodes, and do MATLAB simulating experiment to the improved scheme separatelyfrom two aspects which are the energy consumption and the label filtering mechanism:①On energy consumption: The intelligent reader node uses an energy-working state,which is similar with the working state of wireless sensor node. The state is divided intoreading, writing, waiting and sleeping. It chooses the appropriate working state according toneed to ensure high energy efficiency. We find that the life of the battery from30hours rise to1.2years through simulating results, fully verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the energysaving method.②On label filtering: The intelligent reader node stores the received information in bufferlist temporarily by multiple hop mechanism and processor of nodes. Comparing the receivedinformation with the existed information in buffer list, receiving the new coming informationand giving up the repeated information. As a result, this mechanism reduces the networktraffic to some extent, improves the efficiency and slows down the delay of informationtransmission and then solves the problem of repeated reading.Finally, the paper summarizes the content and analyzes the limitations of research, andproposes the prospect and planning of the further research.
