The fiber sensor has the advantages of high sensitivity, light weight, small size,resistance to electromagnetic interference and corrosion resistance. The end of the20th century, the photonic crystal fiber has been manufactured. As a result of theoutstanding features, the photonic crystal fiber sensor technology has become a hotarea of research in recent years. Due to the air-holes structure of the photonic crystalfiber, making it easy to achieve sensing purposes by means of filling gas or liquid.The photonic crystal fiber sensor based on gas or liquid-filled has a wide range ofapplications in the biomedical, environmental testing, construction of bridges,aerospace, petrochemical.In this article, the main researches are studied the liquid-filled affect to characteristicsof total internal reflection photonic crystal fiber and the highly birefringent photoniccrystal fiber, and ranged of the stress and temperature sensor theory and experimentwith the liquid-filled in high birefringence photonic crystal fiber. The main content isas follows:⑴Using the plane wave expansion method, we analyze the impact of temperature onthe effective refractive index and the normalized frequency that is filled withmethanol in the hexagonal structure of total internal reflection photonic crystal fiber.⑵The theoretical model of the high birefringent photonic crystal fiber which filledwith ethanol has established using of plane wave expansion method, and analyzed theimpact of temperature on birefringence and beat length.⑶We researched the welding method of the photonic crystal fiber with the ordinarysingle-mode fiber in low loss,and the method of fluid-filled. We studied of the stresssensor based on Sagnic effect by welding high birefringence photonic crystal fiberwith single mode fiber,.⑷The ethanol into the highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber was filled byatmospheric pressure, then welded the high birefringence photonic crystal fiber withsingle mode fiber, and studied of high-sensitivity temperature sensor based on Sagniceffect.
