With the rapid evolution of Foursquare in the United States and the good sales of the mobilephone with GPS devices in the Chinese market,location based services (LBS) is becoming oneof the most important developing direction of the mobile internet. In this paper,one LBS MobileOrder System based on Android is designed,which will exhibit great business application incatering industry.First of all,the framework of LBS and the structure of the Android platform are analyzed inthis paper,and mainly problem to be settled is how to use GPS positioning and Google Map toprovide location services on Android devices. On this basis,the general framework of the systemis defined as follows: Android client will employ C/S structure mode while B/S structure modewill be adopted to fit Web management. According to the system’s function analysis,the workflow of the whole system is defined,and each functional modules is divided. Secondly,themodules of food upload, food search,order function,restaurant navigation,site managementand restaurant management are designed and realized. Combined with demand for LBS services,the functions of instant image upload,current location obtaining,and restaurant navigation arealso achieved. Thirdly,the back-end database is designed and realized to provide the datasupporting for the system,completed including user information,restaurant information,foodinformation,menu information data stored and management.Finally,functional test of the systemis performed,and the improve direction of the system is proposed according to the test result.LBS mobile order system based on Android in this paper is designed to complete a series ofservice effectively for the users to enjoy food,including food sharing,searching,ordering,andrestaurant navigating etc. It provides a possible application of location service for the restaurantindustry. The system which is developed on Android platform,has nice user friendly interfaceand simple operation that can be applied on vast range of the Android mobile phone users. At thesame time, the Web management terminal with good expansibility, maintainability andportability is based on B/S structure,so that the restaurant manager and the webmaster canaccess the Web management terminal through the Web browser easily.
