With the continuous development of computer and network technologies,it is possible to realize online test in large-scale examinations. With its threeremarkable features of low cost, high efficiency and flexibility, onlineexaminations are getting popular in our work and study. To build an onlineexamination system has irreplaceable advantages and role for the Beijingunion university which was organized by several colleges in many differentareas. This thesis describes how to develop a cross-platform, easy-operationand high-performance online examination system, which includes severalcore functions, such as system administration, random test generation, onlineexamination, automatic marking management. Based on Web technology, theonline system is built on the Browser/Server three-tier mode. Using ASPdynamic Web technology, VBScript, and SQL Server2000, the system iseasily implemented under C#development environment. All the procedures from requirement analysis to implementation aredescribed in detail. Firstly, according to the practical requirements of online test, information structures related to organization/management mode of online testare completely analyzed. Secondly, the system architecture is designed, includes function model design, database design, etc. Thirdly the articleintroduced the details of the design and the realization process of the systemfunction modules, system master pages and other online examination systemtechnology. The online examination system can be widely adopted in various kinds ofour school examinations. With the application of this system, it has greatlyimproved the organization of many kinds of examinations, lighten theteachers’ stress and reduce the costs.
