Mobile ad hoc network is a self-organized andspecial wireless communicationnetwork, which ismade up of some mobile nodes by using distributed protocols.Sinceeach node in ad hoc network has the function of the host and router,so it has thecharacteristics of flexibilityandconveniencein deployment. In the situation of no fixednetwork infrastructure, mobile ad hoc network can communicate with each other byusing multi-hop way, and provide the convenienceto some special occasionssuch asmedical, meeting, military and so on.With the expanding range of applications, it willalso become one of the core component in future mobile communication technologies. This paper firstly introduces the concept of the ad hoc network, focus ondescription of the ad hoc network routing protocols, and detailed studies and analysesad hoc on demand multipath routing protocol (AOMDV). To improve the AOMDV inselecting the main path, we proposed a NS-AOMDV which is based on node stateinformation. In NS-AOMDV, we consider the rate of node residual energy and idlecache queue as the weight of node which is defined as weighted averages of the twoparameters. In route discovery process, the routing update rule calculate the nodeweight of each path and sort the path weight by the descending value of path weightin route list, and we choose the path which has the largest path weight to transmit datapackets. At the same time, the protocol use the technology of RREQ delay forwardingand energy threshold to ease network congestion, limit the RREQ broadcast storm, and avoid low energy nodes to participate in the establishment of the path. The resultsof simulation experiments show that the NS-AOMDV can effectively improve the networks’packets delivery ratio, throughput and normalized routing overheadin thesituationof shifty network topology and high load.
