As the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee of theCommunist Party of China made the momentous decision of building a harmonioussocialist society, with more emphasis on putting people first, increasing attention is paidto the overall development of the people, so is the handicapped. The ideological andpolitical education of handicapped students in the university is part of programs relatedto the handicapped and the ideological and political education as well; also, it is aneducational practice with great theoretical and realistic significance. The ideological andpolitical education of handicapped students in the university has a bearing on theiroverall development, the building of a harmonious socialist society, the realization ofpolitical justice and fair education and the training of successors of the great cause ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics. The study on the ideological and politicaleducation of handicapped students in the university is emerging, while relatedresearches mostly center on psychological characteristics or physical handicaps butwithout an overall study on this subject.Considering the current research situation of the ideological and political educationof handicapped students in the university, this thesis is a case study of Chongqing whichaims to gain a relatively overall study of the ideological and political education ofhandicapped students in the university in Chongqing by surveys and researches ofhandicapped students in regular institution of higher learning and specialized schools.Interview method, literature review and comparative method are adopted in thisresearch. The combination of related gains of the ideological and political education ofhandicapped students in the university and special education with data and informationobtained in survey works to find out the problems and corresponding causes of theideological and political education of handicapped students in the university through theanalysis of its current situation. For the accuracy of the research, the author surveys ininstitutions of higher learning where there are handicapped students in the university to know their life and their reception of the ideological and political education. Theproblems mainly lay in their own terms and the ideological and political education. Andit is the attention from society, the tendency of policies and love from the family thataffects the ideological and political education of handicapped students in the university.Based on the analysis of the ideological and political education of handicapped studentsin the university in Chongqing, the author points out corresponding principles, contentsand countermeasures. Moreover, this thesis is expected to provide a theoreticalreference for the development of the ideological and political education of handicappedstudents in the university in China.
