| Nowadays English is becoming a global language and is very widelyused in the word. Therefore, English learning is necessary and essential foreach learner. On the other hand, reading is one of the four basic skills thatlearners are required to master, so improving students’ English readingability is the most important aim of English teaching. In the tide of the newcurriculum reform, the traditional teaching methods have failed to keep upwith the pace of development. The traditional education methods can’tarouse students’ enthusiasm, initiative and creativity. What’s more, it isdifficult to inspire students’ learning interest. The new curriculum reformdemands that students’ personality should be respected and the differentneeds of students should be satisfied in the process of teaching. Teachershould create the new teaching methods to inspire the students’ learninginterest, arouse the students’ enthusiasm of learning, cultivate students’ability to master and apply knowledge and make every student fully develop.Learning-plan teaching can let students study and develop in a tolerant,encouraging and friendly learning environment.Learning-plan teaching is a teaching mode where teacher makes use oflearning-plan to guide students’ autonomous learning in order to makestudents actively construct knowledge structures. According to the presentsituation in the English reading teaching, the author carried out thelearning-plan teaching in the senior high school, the main purpose of whichis to train students’ ability of independent reading. Learning-plan teachingwas put forward in the senior high school English reading class in order tomake up for the shortage of English reading teaching. It is an activeexploration in teaching and education.The research subjects of my thesis are the92students of No.5Middle School in Huhhot. In the experimental class, I applied the learning-planteaching for a year. At the same time, in the control class I still usedconventional teaching methods. The purpose of the research is aimed atexploring whether the learning-plan teaching can improve the senior schoolstudents’ English reading ability effectively or not.In the process of the research, I carried out two surveys ofquestionnaire and analyzed students’ two test scores. According to data fromthe analysis of SPSS software, I draw a conclusion, that is: the students’English reading ability and their learning initiative in experimental class areobviously higher than those in the control class, where I didn’t uselearning-plan teaching method. Therefore, applying learning-plan teachingcan improve the senior school students’ English reading ability effectively. |
