Object This study was aimed to design a relationship perception index for unmarried people in China. The purpose of this study was to provide a proper tool to assessment the relationship perception of unmarried people between16to35years old. And find out the factors which influenced the quality of close relationship.Methods First, use the literature analysis, to build the model of relationship perception, determine the operational definition of relationship perception and got the formal questionnaire. Then, we chose1600unmarried people between16to35years old, and hand out the formal questionnaire, and got1420valid samples for project analyzed. Last, we took the Quality of Relationship Index as the criterion test, use Chinese Personality seven factors Scale and Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory to study the relationship among personality, attachment and relationship quality.Results1. The relationship perception of unmarried people including four factors:developmental, satisfactions, conflict, equivalence. Four factors accounts for56.899%of the total variance.2. The internal reliability coefficient were0.596to0.910, the whole scale is0.839. The split-half reliability were0.535to0.876, the whole scale is0.850. there was a significant correlation between the scale of relationship perception index for unmarried people and the Quality of Relationship Index(p<0.001).3. There were no significant differences on sexes and distance. In age, relationship duration and times were statistically significant differences existAThe relationship quality of unmarried people have some correlation with personality and attachment.Conclusion1.The theory structure of the scale of relationship perception index for unmarried people is good. The results of reliabilities and validity testing are accord with the measurement standards.2. There were no significant differences on sexes and distance. In age, relationship duration and times were statistically significant differences exist.4.The relationship quality of unmarried people have some correlation with personality and attachment.
