Research On The Influence Of Sibling Relationship Quality On Children’s Peer Relationship

In recent years,China has successively introduced the policy of having two or three children.As more and more families choose to have multiple children,sibling relationship has become the focus of extensive attention from all walks of life,and the quality of sibling relationship has become a new topic under the birth policy of our country in the new era.Preschool period is an important period for children to learn communication skills and develop peer relationship.Good peer relationship can provide emotional and social support for children.In the past,the research on peer relationship mostly started from the perspective of kindergarten.This study explores the influence of the quality of children’s sibling relationship on peer relationship,provides a new path for the development of children’s peer relationship,and helps parents and teachers to improve their interpersonal skills and skills.In this study,questionnaire survey,interview and observation were used.Two classes(six classes in total)were randomly selected from S kindergarten and Q kindergarten in L City as the research classes,and 107 non-only-child children were selected from 244 children in six classes as the research objects.The parents of sample children were investigated on the quality of sibling relationship by questionnaire survey,and the peer acceptance and friendship quality of children were investigated by interview and observation respectively.It is found that the sibling relationship quality of the sample children is higher,which shows that sibling warmth is higher than sibling jealousy and sibling conflict,that of girls is higher than that of boys,that of second-born children is higher than that of first-born children,and that the older the sibling age interval,the less sibling jealousy and sibling conflict.The sample children’s peer relationship is at the upper-middle level,and the scores of positive factors in friendship quality are at the lower-middle level.Among them,the peer acceptance level of children aged 4-5is higher than that of children aged 3-4 and children aged 5-6,and the level of coordinated play of children aged 6-6.3 is higher than that of children aged 3-4 and children aged 5-6.Through correlation analysis,it is concluded that the quality of sibling relationship is positively correlated with the quality of friendship,and negatively correlated with negative emotions and competition.Companion warmth is positively correlated with peer acceptance and friendship quality,while sibling jealousy is positively correlated with negative emotion and competition.Through regression analysis,it is concluded that the quality of sibling relationship can positively predict friendship quality and positive factors in friendship quality,and negatively predict negative emotions and competition.Companion warmth can positively predict peer acceptance,while sibling jealousy can positively predict negative emotions and competition.Sibling relationship is influenced by family subsystem,which will affect children’s interpersonal communication in other places.The factors affecting the quality of sibling relationship include children’s age,gender,sibling age interval,sibling gender structure,family atmosphere,parenting style,parent-child relationship and so on.Based on this,parents are advised to create a warm family atmosphere and help create a friendly environment;Adopt supportive parenting methods to help resolve sibling conflicts;Establish a harmonious parent-child relationship and positively transfer social experience.It is suggested that teachers should base themselves on sibling relationship and improve children’s interpersonal skills;Focus on individual guidance and expand a good social interaction model;Strengthen home communication and form a coherent educational concept.
