Preliminary Study On The Occurrence And Dispel Mechanism Of Internet Collective Action

With the development of Internet technology, Internet activity is becoming more and more frequent and in-depth, Internet collective action also break out from intermittently to frequently. Based on "Qingdao XinJiazhuang event" in Tianya community, from the sociological perspective, uphold the objective and neutral academic attitude, the Internet collective action is analyzed. In the analysis of the concurrence and dispel mechanism of Internet collective action, I divided the thesis into four stage:"Primary stage","symbolic interaction stage","outbreak period" and "resolution stage", and further analyses the progress and strategy selection of each stage. I analyzed the expected and potential social effects of Internet collective action, and on this basis I analyzed the driving force of Internet collective action from three aspect technical factors, individual factors and social factors.The research suggests that Internet collective action, as a new type of collective action, usually occurs in Internet public sphere, its participants is Internet users, the major way of action is that the participants express a verbal protest by electronic symbols (such as text, image and sounds symbols), disseminate each other’s opinions rapidly, and eventually form the interacting Internet collective action. Internet collective action often presents such characteristics:diversifying and anonymous participants, low cost and high efficiency, ultra space-time and weak normative.Through the analysis of the process of Internet collective action, we can find that the release of information, the attraction of Internet users are crucial at primary stage; the online role-playing, the network mobilization and the strategy selection at the symbolic interaction stage condensing more information resources and creating a strong atmosphere of public opinion; At the outbreak stage, collaborative production play an important role in collective decision-making. In addition, with the struggling for the discourse right by virtual opinion leaders, the trust crisis and the conversion of topic, Internet collective action usually fade out gradually.
