Research On The Influence Of Plant Landscape In Roadside Green Space On The Elderly People’s Behavior

Roadside Green Space beautifies the city image, maintains the ecological balance of the urban environment and sustainable development at the sametime. It has been an important part of the urban park which provided outdoor activie space for urban residents. Because of its small area, low cost and high reachability, roadside green space has a high utilization rate of urban park that was received by the urban residents Roadside green space is mainly used by the elderly people and plant landscape is an important part of it. Researching the behavior of the elderly people impacting by the plants landscape in roadside green space conformed to the principle of people-oriented environment design and had practical significance to the construction of human settlements environment.Basing on the landscape design, environment behavior and statistics, this paper was summarized the research achievements at home and abroad, integrated multi-disciplinary research methods and viewed environment and behavior as a whole. Oriented to practical problems, the paper was researched the four typical roadside green space of Beijing and discussed the behavior of elderly people in different roadside green plants landscape spaces. The main results show:Firstly, two main attributes of plant landscape in the roadside green affect the elderly people’s behavior. Canopy density impacts on the behavior of the elderly people great. The changes in plant richness hardly influence the elderly people’s behavior.Secondly, one attribute of plant landscape in roadside green space changing hardly influence the elderly people’s behavior when other properties are similar. When a variety of attributes changes at the same time and shows significant difference, it will lead profound impact and the results are mixedThirdly, even though two plant landscapes are similar, they have some different influences to the elderly people when they are in different palces. The reasons are no longer limited to plant landscapes themselves.Finally, some other attributes of the plant landscape can also affect the behavior of the elderly people in roadside green space. Such as plant color, seasonal changing, age, plant diseases, insect pests and so on.In roadside green space, plant landscape and the behavior of elderly people are interactive and interdependent, what could be considered as an entirety. At last, this paper was proposed some suggestions on the plant landscape designing of roadside green space in order to solve practical problems and service for the elderly people, summarized the shortcomings of the studyand discussed the research directions in the future.
