Classical Chinese Teaching plays an important and indispensable role in Chineseeducation in senior high school. Being taught by classical Chinese teachers, studentslearn to read the writings in classical style, inherit the cultural heritage of themotherland critically, and understand the implication of the Chinese spirit. However,the classical Chinese teaching now is still a hard nut to crack in Chinese teaching,because nowadays, teachers and students are always plagued by boring classatmosphere and difficult understanding towards ancient Chinese prose, which lowerthe efficiency of classical Chinese teaching and the teaching effect. According to theinvestigation of five senior high schools in Jinzhou city, this paper uses the method ofquestionnaire to study the current situation of classical Chinese teaching in seniorhigh school, and analyzes the reasons for the existing problems, then gives solutionsto improve the teaching effect, the students’ enthusiasm and the teaching quality.There are three parts in this paper.The first part carries on the questionnaire surveyed from35teachers and500students of senior high schools of Jinzhou city, and analyzes the data in order toensure the authenticity and accuracy of the investigation.The second part is a specific analysis of the problems of classical Chineseteaching in senior high school, which are mainly owing to the insufficient attention tothe teaching, lack of teaching content, and dull teaching methods. Besides, this partalso analyzes the reasons causing the problems above, such as the lack of correctunderstanding of classical Chinese teaching, the impact of the college entrance examin teaching contents, and the lack of awareness of innovation in teaching method.Basing on the principles of classical Chinese teaching in senior high school, thefinal part gives the suggestion on improvements of the teaching strategy, includingchanging teaching philosophy, stimulating students’ learning interest, sorting out theknowledge points of classical Chinese, enriching the teaching content; diversifying teaching methods, inheriting the good traditional teaching methods and inventingnovel teaching methods.
