Mathematics has two aspects, firstly it is a deductive science, then it is aninductive science, which is more experimental. In today’s mathematics teaching inprimary school and middle school, the role of mathematics as a deductive sciencehas been well developed. It is a common view that mathematics is an important toolof cultivating the students’ ability to think logically. In examination-orientededucation system, to cultivate the students’ thinking ability only remains inimproving their ability to solve problems. The new curriculum reform advocates ateaching notion that “Mathematics teaching should pay attention to studentshands-on experience, self-inquiry and enable the students to experience the processof mathematical discovery”. Based on the notions of “the body should participate inthe inquiry of mathematical knowledge” and “mathematics teaching is teaching forrecreation and rediscovery”, mathematical experiment is a kind of inquiry teaching,during which the students themselves experience and understand mathematics byobserving, analyzing, exploring, conjecturing and inducing when doing experiments.As an kind of experimental science, mathematics’ function of cultivating thestudents’ abilities to think and to recreate is much more important than just to solvesome problems. However, in today’s teaching practice in primary school and middleschool, mathematics experiment mainly stayed on teaching research instead of goingdeeply into the teachers, students and classes.On the basis of the above conditions and daily mathematics teaching practice insecondary vocational school, the author tries to research into two aspects:introduction of theories about mathematics experiment and practical design ofmathematical experiment. By analyzing theoretically this thesis illustrates thenecessity, feasibility and implementation strategies of using Geometers Sketchpad todo mathematical experiment, then analyses the influences of mathematicalexperiment on mathematics teaching by means of experimental research andquestionnaire.Application of Geometers Sketchpad in mathematical experiment in secondary vocational school means that under the mathematical curriculum standard forsecondary vocational schools, in order to research and obtain certain mathematicaltheory, test and prove certain mathematical guess and solve certain mathematicalproblem, in the experimental environment of thinking or under certain experimentalcondition and with the participation of mathematical thinking, the experimenters useGeometers Sketchpad software platform and certain material means to do a kind ofmathematical exploring activity. In the modern research on mathematical teachingexperiment, a teacher should properly using mathematical experiment to createproblem-related environment and instruct the students to participate in practice, toexplore independently and to cooperate and communicate with each other, thenfind out problems, present conjectures, test and prove conjectures and solveproblems creatively.
