With the Reform and Opening-up continues to expand and Socialist MarketEconomy develops deeply, besides, rapid development of the Western ways ofproduction, management models.The social and economic elements, employment andother interests are increasingly diversification in China which influenced Chinesemainstream ideology. It is no doubt that, to some degree, our contemporary collegestudents’ world outlooks, life outlooks and value outlooks have also been influenceddeeply. It is not only helpful for college students to establish innovation consciousness,self consciousness and awareness, but also brings some negative effects and hugechallenge to the college students’ Ideological and Political education. A counselorplays an important part in college school teacher-team and manager-team, ideologicaland political education of college students. It also plays a navigator college students’life, a leader in academic success, a trainer in overall development, a manager incollege students’ daily life, a builder in campus culture. They take many keyresponsibilities in promoting students’ overall growth, training qualified builders andwinners of the socialism and keeping the stable development of a college. Collegecounselors system has been established for over fifty years. During a time, it appearsan irreplaceable role in the promotion of the overall development of college students,ideological and political education of college students, what’s more, its theoreticalresearch and practice have been continuously enriched. However, with thetransformation of society and the popularization of college education development,college counselors’ work faces the new tasks and new challenges. Their work haschanged from the traditional work, such as, pure thought political work, dailymanagement of college students to psychological counseling, occupation careerplanning etc. Correcting judgment of their roles, we face new expectations and newrequirements. The roles which positioned accurate whether or not is directly related tothe college students’ growth, the development of college and the prosperous of thecause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In this paper, according to the brokedefinition, analyzing the expectations from the county, colleges and college studentson College Counselors’ role and the conflicts among them that caused a range ofproblems. Making a more reasonable college counselors’ role orientation. The paper isdivided into four parts.The first part, it introduces and analyzes the background of the selected topic,describes home and abroad study on role and professional quality issue of collegecounselors and also summaries its research significance, research focus, difficultiesand innovations. The second part, combined with the current social ideology, the paperrespectively discusses some different points from the country, colleges and collegestudents on the expectations of College Counselors’ role.The third part, it analyzes the conflicts exist in quality construction of CollegeCounselor and its caused the problems.The fourth part, according to the social various aspects of College Counselors’role expectation and their current problems, the paper makes clear roles from theeducation function, management function and service function respectively.
