A Case Study Of College Students’ Expectation For The Role Of Counselor

With the development of economic globalization and informationization,the multicultural pattern has been formed,which has also brought a far-reaching impact on the formation of university students’ values.In the new social environment,the characteristics of students has undergone a major change,which is a challenging to the counselor’s work.Students have the closest relationship with the counselor,and the expectatioin from the students can help to explore the function of the counselor.Cleairing the students’expectation to the counselor,which can give the counselor a right directiol and have a self-improvement.This study takes Hunan S College as a case study.From the perspective of"college students",Through interviewing with college students,I learned about the ideal counselor role types in their minds,which includes teacher-student relationship,psychology,study,career guidance,teacher behavior,and so on.It is divided into five types:good friend,mental dredger,academie troubleshooter,career mentor,role model.College students don’t want to set up command-obedience of teacher-student relationship,and they look forward to being closet friend with counselor;the way of interaction is democratic and equality.if the counselor loves his students,the students also love him.College students hope the counselor help them how to balance the relationship between academic and emotional,howto deal xwith the issue of choosing friends and job,providing psychological help for themselves,guiding students out of the psychological misconceptions and inner confi允sion.They expect counselor to help them with their studies,career planning and career guidance.In addition,counselor’s behavior demonstration have made a request,and the teachers who are well-read and have high moral quality are more favored by students.In fact,there is still a gap bet.Aween the role play of the counselor and the expectation of the college students’ role to the counselor.Through consulted a lot of literature materials related to the counselor.I find that the comprehensive quality of counselors,the way of communication between teachers and students,and the construction of counselors’ teams all influence the role playing of counselors.The knowledge,ability and professional ethics influence the comprehensive quality of counselors.The role conflict and unreasonable role expectation affect the relationship between teachers and students.The entry conditions and training mechanism restrict the quality of counselors,and the assessment mechanism influences the enthusiasm and initiative of counselors’work.In order to realize the role expectation of counselors,I makes suggestions on the comprehensive quality of counselors,the way of communication between teachers and students and the construction of the team of counselors.Looking at the counselor from the perspective of college students,this can complements the stuy related to the role of counselor.To some extent,it can enrich and develop the theoretical content of the counselor’s.
